Masik Shivaratri (मासिक शिवरात्रि) is the fourteenth lunar day of the Krishna Paksha, observed every month in honor of Lord Shiva — the monthly counterpart of the annual Maha Shivaratri.
Devotees fast and perform night-long worship of Lord Shiva, believed to bring spiritual merit and the fulfillment of wishes.
Grains and tamasic food are avoided. The fast is typically observed through the night, with Shiva Puja performed across each of the four praharas.
