Favorable Moon sign and birth star for today.
Astrological auspiciousness (Balam) depends on how today's Moon and Nakshatra align with your birth Moon (Janma Rasi) and birth Nakshatra (Janma Nakshatra).
Find your Janma Rasi (birth Moon sign) on the ring above to see today's rating at a glance. The gold-ringed sign is today's transiting Moon — Leo — the reference point every count is measured from.
The Moon changes Nakshatra today: Magha till 9:40 PM, then Purva Phalguni.
If your Janma Rasi (Birth Moon Sign) is listed in the Favorable/Neutral columns, the day's activities are favored or acceptable (with a Puja recommended) for you. If it is in the Inauspicious column (particularly the 8th from your sign, known as Ashtama Chandra), caution is advised.
Favorable counts (1,3,6,7,10,11 from your natal Moon rashi to today's transiting Moon rashi) follow 3 convergent sources: cosmicinsights.net and vijayalur.com/Jyothishi, which both cite the classical Muhurta texts Mahurtha Chintamani, Mahurtha Deepika, and Mahurtha Darpana; and shubhpanchang.com, an established Jyotish reference site. naturalstupid/PyJHora's own chandrabalam() implementation instead uses a narrower favorable set (1,3,6,7,10 — excluding 11); that disagreement is disclosed, not silently resolved. Count 8 (Ashtama Chandra) is universally the most inauspicious; counts 2, 5, and 9 are called merely "neutral/cautionary" by at least one source rather than strictly bad.
If your Janma Nakshatra (Birth Star) is listed in the Favorable section, the day's Nakshatra grants positive results (Sampat, Kshema, Sadhaka, Mitra, Parama Mitra). Otherwise, expect hurdles (Janma, Vipat, Pratyak, Vadha).
Tarabalam's 9-fold cycle (Janma, Sampat, Vipat, Kshema, Pratyak, Sadhaka, Vadha/Naidhana, Mitra, Parama Mitra) and its favorable/unfavorable split (Sampat, Kshema, Sadhaka, Mitra, Parama Mitra favorable; Janma, Vipat, Pratyak, Vadha unfavorable) is corroborated with no disagreement across naturalstupid/PyJHora's thaaraabalam() and 3 independent write-ups (cosmicinsights.net, vijayalur.com/Jyothishi, cteindia.org). Vadha Tara is universally the worst position.
